Sidley United 0-2 Burgess Hill Town

The Hillians travelled over to Gullivers for a tough match against 2000/2001 Champions Sidley United. The two teams had met 6 times in the league since Sidley had come up from the Second Division, five of the games were draws and the other was one by Sidley. Hillians started the game well with early half chances falling to Phil Churchill and Sean Randell. After 15 minutes the Hillians had to re shuffle as Des Guile went off injured and Nicky Sullivan came on to replace him. Andy Lutwyche took Guiles place while Churchill moved over to the right wing and Sullivan moved up front. Ronan Callaghan deputising for Pat Gannon then saved a shot from Sidley striker Paul Balch before Ben Andrews had a goal disallowed for handball. The half time whistle went with the scores being 0-0. In the second half there were more chances for both teams with Sullivan and Randell missing chances and Shae Spreafico hit high and wide from just inside the area. After 82 minutes the Hillians took the lead when a miss-hit Sean Randell free kick fell to Sullivan who turned and shot to give Hill the lead. 5 minutes later and the points were in the bag for the Hillians when a brilliant passing movement involving four or five players finally ended up with Sullivan again shooting powerfully home. Another good away performance for the Hillians, which kept the Hillians on top of the County League.
